MDP student Esther Joe works with Pulitzer Prize journalist Nicholas Kristof in Malawi

Esther Joe and Nicholal Kristof

A former journalist, MDP student Esther Joe has always admired New York Times columnist and Pulitzer Prize winner Nicholas Kristof, who often writes passionate and poignant articles about the vulnerable and the disenfranchised in the Global South. This summer Joe was serving as an intern with CARE in Malawi, where she conducted an assessment of climate change impacts on household livelihood security. While in the field, she was delighted to have an opportunity to meet and assist Kristof who was visiting various development projects, including CARE's Village Saving & Loans initiative.
