Hannah Cox, communications intern for the CARE Pathways Program, traveled to India in November for the Annual Pathways Review Meeting (APRM) held in Bhubaneswar, India. Hannah worked with CARE Pathways in India as a qualitative research intern during her 2014 summer practicum. She currently works with country teams from the six Pathways countries: Mali, Malawi, Tanzania, Ghana, India and Bangladesh.

At the APRM, groups from each country team met together with the Pathways core team and senior technical advisors to discuss Pathway’s goals and accomplishments as well as possible modifications and new additions to the program. Individual country teams shared updates from the past year of the program, and planned for the “Phase 2.” The meeting also incorporated field visits to Pathways’ villages in Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts, where Hannah conducted focus groups and interviews in July 2014.

Emory MDP interns have been involved in CARE Pathways programming and research over several years and in multiple contexts. In the summer of 2014, Lauren Godfrey (MDP ‘15) worked with CARE Malawi as a mid-term review intern for the Pathways program; Morgan Mercer (MDP ‘14) served as a qualitative research scholar with CARE Pathways in both Mali and Tanzania; and Charlotte Newman (MDP ‘15) worked as a monitoring and evaluation intern with CARE in Ghana. In previous summers, MDP students Kristin Tanis (MDP ‘13), Connor Radkey (MDP ‘13), and Miranda Bodfish (MDP ‘12) worked with CARE Pathways-related projects in India and Tanzania.
