New! Register for the Stephen T. Warren Memorial Symposium and Marian Hines Lecture

 

The Emory University School of Medicine invites LGS students to register for the Stephen T. Warren Memorial Symposium and Marian Hines Lecture. Harry Orr, recipient of the 2022 Kavli Prize in Neuroscience for his pioneering genetic research on the neurodegenerative disease spinocerebellar ataxia type 1, and Susan Ackermann from the University of California San Diego are featured speakers. A career development panel discussion will follow presentations.

 

When: November 29, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., and November 30, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

LGS Dean December Office Hours

 

LGS Dean Kimberly Jacob Arriola is hosting office hours each month for LGS students. All LGS students are welcome – just come to the Dean’s Office (Administration Building, Suite 202) during office hours, sign in upon arrival, and you’ll be able to meet with the Dean individually. The Dean will meet with students in order of arrival. We will offer light refreshments in the office while you wait.

Laura Bassi Scholarship

 

The Laura Bassi Scholarship was established by Editing Press in 2018 with the aim of providing editorial assistance to postgraduates and junior academics whose research focuses on neglected topics of study, broadly construed. The scholarships are open to every discipline and the next round of funding will be awarded in Winter 2022.

We are excited to announce that our career coaching program has a limited number of appointments available this semester for graduate students who wish to think through their career planning with a professional coach!

LGS Writing Group

 

Are you working on a writing project? If so, our supportive community of writers can help you get it done! Join our weekly graduate student writing group for two hours of dedicated writing time (using the pomodoro method) as well as the opportunity to obtain feedback from a Writing Center graduate tutor or an English Language Specialist, if desired. Come for 1 week or come for them all.

Let's Talk! Drop in Consultations for Emory Graduate & Professional Students

 

Let's Talk is an informal, free, confidential consultation service that allows graduate and professional students to speak with a clinician and receive support for any challenge they may be experiencing. Let's Talk is not a substitute for formal counselling but can be used to receive short-term support and resources.

 

Students will meet 1:1 for a 15-20 minute video or phone consultation with their CAPS consultant.

IBUILD Graduate Research Fellowship

 

The goal of the IBUILD Fellowship Program is to strengthen the pool of well-trained, diverse graduate student scholars who are equipped for research-intensive careers in fields supporting the larger mission of building energy efficiency. IBUILD Fellows will receive financial support to conduct innovative research at their home institution in an area with demonstrated relevance to building energy efficiency.
