Laney Programs Continue to Excel (2023/24 U.S News & World Rankings are Out!)

Earlier this month, the U.S. News and World Report announced that once again, Emory’s graduate and professional schools ranked among best in the nation. (You can read the story reported first by the Emory News Center here.)

For us here at Laney, we’re just excited that the world knows what we know – our faculty and scholars aren’t just among the best – they are the best.

You can look at how we stack up in this condensed guide here.

Although not all programs were ranked this year, this doesn’t diminish their accomplishments – it just means that a particular program wasn’t up for re-evaluation.

Congratulations, Spring 2023 Graduates!

The Laney Graduate School diploma ceremony and reception was a fabulous celebration of our master's and doctoral students' achievements.

Olivia Johnson Wins the 2023 Eleanor Main Student Mentor Award

Throughout her years at Laney Graduate School, Olivia Johnson, a sixth-year doctoral candidate in Sociology, sought multiple opportunities to support, guide, uplift, and communicate on behalf of fellow graduate students.

Johnson, who will graduate in December 2023, is the recipient of this year’s Eleanor Main Graduate Student Mentor Award, which recognizes mentoring of the highest quality in graduate education and is presented at LGS’s spring diploma ceremony.

“Winning the Eleanor Main award feels like a culmination of my graduate career thus far, and I’m honored. It isn’t often that mentorship is formally recognized and rewarded. Oftentimes it is seen as a distraction from the real goal to get in and do your dissertation and get out. But if I can’t help people while doing that then there’s really no point,” said Johnson.
