2023 Dean’s Address & Awards Reception Celebrates LGS Achievements

Laney Graduate School (LGS) honored LGS excellence at the 2nd annual Dean’s Address & Awards Reception on May 2, 2023.

“There is no other unit within Emory University that is as well-poised as Laney to help fulfill Emory's mission, which is to create, preserve, teach, and apply knowledge in the service of humanity,” said Dean Kimberly Jacob Arriola in the State of the School address.

Dean Arriola shared LGS’s strategic goals, presented priorities for moving graduate education at Emory forward, and described notable advancements at Laney over the course of the year.

“The state of the Laney Graduate School is healthy, resilient, and strong.  But this is only because of the people, processes, and priorities that define us,” said Dean Arriola.

Following Dean Arriola’s remarks, the evening transitioned to an awards ceremony that celebrated exemplary students, faculty, staff, and alumni who embody the School’s mission.
