Join the Spring 2025 LGS Graduate Writing Group
The Spring 2025 LGS Graduate Writing Group provides an opportunity to focus on your writing in a structured and supportive environment. Whether you're drafting a paper, reading source materials, or working on tables and figures, the writing group offers both in-person and online options to help you stay on track and make significant progress.
The writing group will include :
- Writing sprints to advance your projects – including drafting, reading, outlining or refining tables/figures.
- Option to receive feedback from an Emory Writing Center Fellow or English Language Specialist.
When: 12-2 p.m., every Wednesday, beginning tomorrow Wednesday, Jan.22 Where: The Computing Center at Cox Hall, Classroom A

Emory King Week Events
Emory University King Week is a series of programs offered in January by various Emory units to honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the Civil Rights Movement.

An Intersecting Minds Works-in-Progress Talk

The SIS Crisis On-Call Team is staffed 24/7 and responds to students’ active crises. Compensation is provided and SIS Team Responders receive ongoing training and support.

ELSP Mini-Course: Advancing Your Graduate Writing Skills
This mini-course is designed to help multilingual graduate students refine their scholarly writing skills through:
- Focused sessions tailored to common writing challenges.
- Exploration of disciplinary writing conventions to better understand and meet the expectations in your field of study.
- Personalized feedback on your writing to help you develop as an academic writer.
- Introduction of tools and strategies for self-editing and continued improvement.
The course emphasizes practical application and individualized support to help students produce clear, effective, and well-organized writing.
When: Once a week, mid-February through the first week in April (time to be determined based on interested parties’ schedules)

New Offering for International Researchers: Reframe Your Research – Shifting Perspectives on Your Data for New Insights
This interactive workshop, led by Emory LGS alum and executive coach, Nuri Jeong,D,was designed for advanced international graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
Participants will learn to analyze data from the perspective of key stakeholders, such as employers, advisors, and grant reviewers and receive peer feedback to refine and reframe their research for maximum impact. Lunch will also be served.
When: 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Feb. 7

Emory’s International Student and Scholars office provides several resources to help international students and scholars file their taxes before the April 15 deadline:
- ISSS Taxes webpage: While ISSS staff are not tax experts, they have created a dedicated webpage with helpful information.
- Tax Preparation Software: Emory offers access to Sprintax, a tax preparation software for international students and scholars.
- Free Tax Webinars: Sprintax also hosts free webinars covering topics such as filing requirements for non-residents, necessary forms, and more. Details will be posted in the "Get Help" section of the ISSS Taxes webpage when available.
