New Initiative | Race, Health and History Working Group

 

The Center for Healthcare History and Policy's has a new informal get together initiative called the Race, Heath and History working group.

 

The group is designed as a discussion space, with a view to forming collaborative projects.

LGS Dissertation Boot Camp

 

Kick start your semester with us Saturday January 27th in the Jones Room of Woodruff Library from 10:00 - 5:00 for the LGS Dissertation/Prospects Writing Boot Camp!

Open to all Laney Graduate School students, the Dissertation/Prospectus Writing Boot Camp is an opportunity for dissertators and advanced graduate students to write without distractions.  The Boot Camp will offer several modes of support for participants, including the help of the Graduate Writing Support Service, the Emory Writing Center, and resources on dissertation/thesis writing, copyright, and other areas.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided to registered participants.

Yale University Virtual Postdoc Recruitment Event   

 

Yale University’s Office for Postdoctoral Affairs is hosting its Virtual Postdoc Recruitment Event on February 15, 2024 from 1-4pm Eastern Time on Zoom and engages scholars interested in pursuing postdoctoral training at Yale University. Our goals are to support potential postdocs in their career exploration and identifying next steps, engage with potential postdocs from underrepresented and historically excluded groups, and increase awareness of the experience of and resources supporting Yale postdocs.

The Marion Luther Brittain Award 2023-2024 is the highest award given to Emory students, honors meritorious service to the university community. Each year, two students are recognized, one graduate and one undergraduate. All fall 2023 and spring 2024 graduates are eligible for this year’s honor. We are asking that you consider nominating the 100 senior honorary students for the Brittain Award, for those that meet the requirements.

Call for Nominations: 2024 Thomas Jefferson Award

 

The Thomas Jefferson Award is presented annually at Emory University’s commencement. This award is named and endowed by the Robert Earl McConnell Foundation to honor current Emory University faculty and staff who have significantly enriched the intellectual and civic life of the Emory community. The award honors a member of the faculty or staff for significant service to Emory through personal activities, influence, and leadership, usually over the course of many years.

 

The award recognizes personal and professional integrity as well as distinguished service in several of the following areas:

  • Teaching
  • Research and scholarship
  • Non-academic accomplishments related to students
  • University advancement and development in relation to the entire university or to an area, school, or division
  • Community or educational service on the local, state, national, or international level

The Selection Committee, comprised of the Chair and the three most recent winners of the award, is now seeking nominations for the 2024 honoree. More information on the award can be found on the Office of the Provost website.

 

Any Emory University employee may nominate a current Emory faculty or staff member by sending an original letter of nomination and the nominee’s full CV or resume. The nomination letter may include signatures of other Emory employees who wish to endorse the nomination. The nomination letter should be sent to the attention of the Chair and Members of the Jefferson Award Selection Committee. PAID TA POSITIONS – GH521 Qualitative Research Methods – Spring 2024

 

We are recruiting multiple Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the Spring semester courses on Qualitative Research Methods in the Global Health department of RSPH. These courses will be taught in-person with asynchronous content on Canvas. TAs will  assist with group activities, mentor students, review course assignments and assist with course logistics. Interested graduate students must have experience with qualitative research methods for this position by having completed a graduate course in qualitative research. These are paid positions.

 

There are two sections of this course that meet as follows, each TA would only need to be available for one of these sections:  

 

Section 1: Mondays Class is 8am -10.50am

OR

Section 2: Mondays Class is 3pm - 5.50pm

  • Emory’s ISSS and the Emory tax office have resources available to help you file your taxes before the April 15 deadline.
  • The ISSS staff are not tax experts, but they have compiled a special ISSS Taxes webpage with useful information.
  • Emory has contracted with Sprintax to offer access to their tax preparation software to Emory’s international students and scholars.
  • Free tax webinars are available through Sprintax. Review the “Get Help” section of the ISSS Taxes webpage for webinar details. Topics will include an overview of tax for non-resident students and scholars, who must file a 2022 US tax return, what income forms students/scholars may receive, forms that need to be completed and sent to the IRS, and much more!
