Upcoming! Emory Vaccine Distribution Town Hall

New! Historical Criticism and Modern Questions: Writing about the Binding of Isaac

The first meeting of the Spring 2021 Jewish Studies Seminar Series on the Research-Teaching Nexus will discuss the new book Unbinding Isaac: The Significance of the Akedah for Modern Jewish Thought (2020) by Professor Aaron Koller of Yeshiva University. This seminar will discuss why biblicists should be willing to dive deep into a text’s interpretive history, and how philology can be helpful for ethics.

The Dan David Prize awards scholarships to doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, carrying out research in one of the selected fields for the coming academic year, beginning in Fall 2021. Registered doctoral and post-doctoral researchers who study at recognized universities throughout the world and whose research has been approved, are eligible to apply.

Global Research Fellows Program 

The Halle Institute for Global Research announces the 2021 Global Research Fellows Program for Laney Graduate School PhD students in the pre-candidacy stage. The program will fund up to six grants with maximum awards of $4,000/grant.

Dobes Award Session: "Tell the Story of Your Research through Creative and Persuasive Communication" presented by Misael Romero-Reyes

This workshop explores how to generate relevant analogies— an essential component to simplifying research, and how to leverage elements of persuasive communication in research descriptions, such as defining vocabulary, buzzwords, and keywords tailored to their audience.

Berlin Graduate Student Exchange Program

The Laney Graduate School maintains a graduate student exchange program with the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB). One student may be selected to represent Emory at the FUB for the 2021-22 academic year (October 1, 2021 - July 31, 2022). Selection is based on a competitive process.
