LAST CHANCE: GRAD 700 Elevates Grant Writing in the Humanities and Social Sciences

The Laney Graduate School remains dedicated to equipping PhD students with the tools and support needed to secure external funding for their research. This fall, LGS will offer GRAD 700: Grant Writing for Humanities and Social Sciences, a one-credit, writing-intensive seminar designed to demystify the grant application process and foster competitive proposals for dissertation research and completion fellowships.

While grant writing is often emphasized in STEM disciplines, it is just as essential in the humanities and social sciences. GRAD 700 seeks to close that gap by providing students with practical guidance, structured peer feedback, and opportunities to refine their proposals through hands-on writing workshops.

The seminar is also designed with international students in mind, offering valuable insights and support for those who may be ineligible for U.S. government–funded opportunities.
