EmoryCard

As an Emory student, you will need an EmoryCard. It identifies you as a member of the Emory community, and is also required for access to campus services, including libraries, building entry, recreation centers.

You need to have your EmoryCard ready when the semester begins. Please review the information below for instructions on submitting your photo and picking up your card.

Submit a Photo

New LGS students are required to upload a photo of themselves and an image of their  goverment-issued photo ID. Both must be approved by one of the deadlines below

Priority Deadline: July 1

Students who complete photo submission and approval by July 1 will have the best chance of receiving their EmoryCard in an earlier distribution cycle, which is especially important for timely building access.

Final Deadline: July 22

Failure to have an uploaded and approved photo by the final deadline will delay orientation participation and the start of courses.

Pick up Your EmoryCard

EmoryCards will be available for pick-up with your program in August, shortly before LGS Orientation. Please watch for email communications and updates to this page regarding specific pickup dates.

To pick up your EmoryCard, you must present a government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or passport) to verify your identity.

EmoryCard Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Most new Laney Graduate School students need an EmoryCard. Your EmoryCard serves as your official university identification and is required for building access, library services, recreation facilities, and other campus resources.

Students should upload their photo as early as possible.

Priority Deadline: July 1
Students who upload and receive photo approval by the priority deadline have the greatest likelihood of receiving their EmoryCard before orientation and the start of classes.

Final Deadline: July 22
Students who upload and receive photo approval by the final deadline should still have their card available according to the university's established production and distribution schedule.

The Priority Deadline helps students receive their cards as early as possible and allows additional time to resolve any issues before arrival.

The Final Deadline is the latest date students should submit their photos to participate in the regular card production cycle.

Students receive a confirmation from EmoryCard once their photo submission has been reviewed and approved.

LGS also asks students to upload proof of their EmoryCard photo approval as an additional verification step.

Students are being asked to upload proof of their EmoryCard photo approval so that we can more accurately assist students and identify any issues before arrival.

This verification helps ensure that students who have completed the process are appropriately accounted for.

Students who complete the process early may receive their cards earlier in the pick-up cycle, in many cases before orientation.

EmoryCards are produced and distributed according to university production schedules and are provided to schools in batches throughout the summer.

Your program will receive instructions regarding pickup once cards become available.

Missing published deadlines will delay receipt of your EmoryCard and could affect your ability to access campus facilities when you arrive.

Students who miss deadlines may also be subject to policies established by the EmoryCard Office.

If you will continue working as an Emory employee while enrolled as a student, you generally do not need a new EmoryCard.

If you are leaving your employment and transitioning fully to student status, you will need to obtain a new EmoryCard.

It depends.

If you are continuing as an Emory employee while also enrolling as a student, you generally do not need a new EmoryCard.

If you are ending your Emory employment and transitioning fully to student status, you will need to obtain a new EmoryCard.

Possibly, but this applies primarily to students who are fully transitioning from employee status to student status.

When someone moves completely from one role to another, there may be a brief period while HR and Registrar records are updated. During that time, access or card issuance may be temporarily affected.

Generally, no.

Students who already possess an active EmoryCard as part of another Emory academic program typically do not need to obtain a new card.

No.

EmoryCards are coded based on broad university roles such as student or employee. They do not contain a separate graduate student designation.
