Relationship between the Individual, the Community, and the State
Tanya Krupiy is a legal researcher with a particular interest in responsible technological innovation. She is currently investigating the nature of artificial intelligence decision-making systems and the impact the employment of such systems has on the lives of individuals. In her work, Tanya aims to incorporate the voices of the communities who have historically experienced discrimination and disadvantage. The application of vulnerability theory makes it possible to identify through which mechanisms the use of artificial intelligence decision-making systems produce social injustices. Tanya intends to use a vulnerability framework to examine such adverse implications as the exacerbation of inequalities, segregation, the fostering of unjust relationships, and deflection of the attention from the need for the state to intervene. Tanya's work is interdisciplinary. She has an interest in law, legal theory, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, and science and technology studies. Prior to joining Tilburg University as a researcher, Tanya was a postdoctoral fellow at McGill University.
