Jennifer Hickey recently joined the Vulnerability and the Human Condition Initiative as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Jennifer earned her JD with honors at Emory University School of Law, where she held leadership positions in If/When/How and twice received EPIC grants for public interest work at National ACLU Women’s Rights Project and Center for Reproductive Rights. While at Emory, her research and writing focused on the application of vulnerability theory to birthing and reproductive justice. As a civil rights litigator, Jennifer worked to provide meaningful access to reproductive care, police services, the criminal justice system, voting, housing, employment opportunities, and free exercise of speech and religion. She volunteers as a pro bono attorney with Gwinnett Legal Aid, Atlanta Safe Families Office, and Kids in Need of Defense to assist women and children in accessing critical family law and immigration services. Jennifer is a former fellow of the Georgia Women’s Policy Institute and regularly assists with state legislative efforts concerning a range of issues impacting women. As a former software engineer, Jennifer is interested in the impact of technological development on humanity and social institutions.
