Photo of Patrick  KelleyPatrick leads Habitat for Humanity International’s global practice to develop market-based solutions for improved and affordable shelter. The market development practice at Habitat seeks to strengthen affordable housing value chains, to stimulate innovation and enterprise solutions for shelter and to mobilize investment capital to move housing solutions to scale. During Patrick’s time leading the housing market development work, Habitat for Humanity has launched the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter – which provides market facilitation and consulting services in the housing sector, the MicroBuild Fund- a $100 million impact capital fund for innovative housing finance, and the Shelter Venture Fund to invest in entrepreneurs working around shelter issues.  Prior to HFH, Patrick worked in Africa directly supporting under USAID IGP and Economic Strengthening funding. He also served as Executive Director of Urwego Opportunity Bank LLC, the largest financial institution for the informal sector in Rwanda, and initiated the startup of Turame in Burundi, and Hekima in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Both Urwego and Turame were awarded “Best MFI in Country” by the U.N. Year of Microcredit Campaign.  Patrick is a CPA with work experience with E&Y and ABN AMRO bank. He is a graduate of the University Of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Princeton Woodrow Wilson School. He is on the board of directors for the SEEP network, EarthEnable, MicroBuild India, teaches the course Inclusive Markets at Emory University’s Masters in Development. He is based in Atlanta with his wife Melissa and their two children.
