Biography

Tamara-Jones-bio.jpgTamara Jones brings over 20 years of experience working in the grassroots, electoral, government, and nonprofit sectors. She has used her skills in service to a broad range of social justice efforts, including fighting police brutality, running an electoral campaign for a progressive female candidate, and struggling for racial equity, LGBTQ rights, labor rights, and land and food justice. In 2011, Tamara was honored as a White House Champion of Change under the Obama administration in recognition of her work leading green building retrofit programs across seventeen cities in the Southeast. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of SAAFON, an organization pursuing Black empowerment through regenerative food- and land-based strategies in the Southeastern United States. She is the lead author of the Racial Equity Implementation Guide for Food Hubs: A Framework for Translating Values Into Organizational Action. Tamara holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from Yale University.
