CAITLIN SHANNON

Caitlin Shannon is an accomplished research, evaluation, and learning expert. She has two decades of experience in the non-profit and academic sectors, a strong publication record, and uniquely, legal training. She combines diverse national and international experience, interests and skills and has a longstanding commitment to and passion for social justice and human rights, including for advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights. At EngenderHealth, she helped strengthen their culture and capacity for generating, synthesizing and disseminating high quality data and evidence. She built and managed a team of more than ten staff and provided support to more than 200 technical and professional staff. She led the development of EngenderHealth's new rights-based programmatic framework and metrics, to align with its new strategic vision. While at the London School for Hygiene and Tropical Medicine she served as a research director for two large-scale community-based trials in Ghana to evaluate maternal and perinatal mortality, morbidity and care-seeking patterns. While at the Population Council and Gynuity Health Projects, she developed and implemented research programs in India, Albania, Latvia, Uzbekistan, the Ukraine, Canada and the United States. Her work focused on improving abortion care quality and ensuring access to women-centered care.
